1. Who We Are

BrewMaps ("we", "us", "our") is a café discovery app helping people in the UAE find their perfect coffee spot. We are committed to protecting your personal information.

2. Information We Collect

Account information
When you sign up, we collect your display name, email address, and password (stored encrypted). You may optionally add a profile photo.

Location data
With your permission, we access your device location to show cafés near you. We do not store your precise location history on our servers — location is used only in the moment to rank results.

Activity data
We store café check-ins, saved cafés, ratings, notes, and BrewPoints you earn. This is the core of what makes the app useful.

Device information
We collect basic device identifiers and crash logs to fix bugs and improve performance. We do not sell this data.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To show you nearby cafés and personalise recommendations based on your taste profile
• To display your activity to friends you have connected with
• To calculate BrewPoints, badges, and leaderboard rankings
• To send transactional emails (e.g. email confirmation, password reset)
• To send push notifications about activity relevant to you (e.g. friend check-ins, new picks)
• To improve the app through aggregated, anonymised analytics

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our platform, including:

• Cloud infrastructure and hosting providers
• Authentication and security services
• App distribution platforms (Apple App Store, Google Play)
• Analytics providers (aggregated, anonymised data only)

All third-party providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and may only use it to perform services on our behalf.

Website analytics (Meta Pixel)
Our marketing website (brewmaps.app) uses the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which sets cookies to measure the performance of our ads, understand how visitors arrive from those ads, and show relevant ads on Meta platforms. This applies only to the website, not the app. You can control this through your Meta ad settings and your browser's cookie controls.

5. Push Notifications

With your permission, we send push notifications about friend activity, new café picks, and BrewPoints rewards. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or within the app.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data (profile, check-ins, saves, points) is permanently deleted within 30 days.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To request a data export or full deletion, contact us at privacy@brewmaps.app.

Under the DIFC Data Protection Law 2020 (applicable to users in the UAE), you also have the right to object to processing and to data portability.

8. Children

BrewMaps is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email.
